Dr. Hunter W. Norris originally from Chattanooga came to the Eye Care Center in 1991 after studying eye surgery at the University of Cincinnati where he was the chief resident his last year. His medical school training was completed at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Norris has performed over 10,000 cataract surgeries, 3000 RK and Lasik procedures, as well as 300 corneal transplant operations. He was the first in our area to perform Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery in 2015 and continues this latest advancement at the Tullahoma Surgery Center. Because of the comprehensive nature of his practice he also does eye muscle surgery, glaucoma surgery/stents, plastic lid surgery, and intravitreal injections for associated swelling due to diabetes, macular degeneration, and vascular occlusions.

Outside the practice of eye diseases and surgery, Dr. Norris has recently taken up the hobby of triathlons competing in over 40 Sprint, Olympic, and even 2 Half Ironmans. He is married to the former Amy Felker of Chattanooga and has raised 6 children in the Tullahoma and Webb School systems assisting them in Soap Box Derby, Little League Baseball and Softball, and Tullahoma Youth Soccer. If Dr. Norris wasn’t coaching his children then he would be at least photographing them.

His specialty is with surgery of the front of the eye with interest in no stitch laser cataract surgery, LASIK vision correction, glaucoma care, corneal transplants, and diabetic/macular degeneration injections.

Raised by his grandmother for a large portion of his young life, Dr. Norris has a fondness and understanding of our older patients devoting his life to the health of their vision.
